Michigan Ross is a place where people from all backgrounds with different career goals can thrive. Please share your short-term career goal. Why is this career goal right for you?
My goal is to join a mid-sized management consulting firm, such as ZS Associates, or to return to (firm name), where cultural fit is a priority and I can pivot to healthcare consulting. A Ross MBA with a Healthcare Management Concentration will deepen my quantitative and analytical foundation and broaden my managerial perspective, preparing me to grapple with complex challenges whose solutions require numerous skillsets.
I thrive in consulting’s team-based environment because, in the face of pressure, I find immense joy working collaboratively and building relationships with teammates to deliver solutions to our clients. I’ve found that investing in relationships with both colleagues and clients using empathy and genuine curiosity is a critical success factor. In addition, I love the fast-paced, high-expectations environment; working on a range of consulting projects, I relish quickly absorbing key components of a new subject-matter area. After earning a Ross MBA, I will make better decisions with imperfect information and use persuasive management communication as I build and lead project teams. I aim to have a leadership role in the Community Consulting Club where I can make a positive impact while in Ann Arbor.
Growing up, I was convinced that I would become a pediatrician. As advanced science classes became less exciting to me, I realized that I was passionate about medicine because it was rooted in helping others and building long-term relationships with patients. Pivoting my consulting focus to work on healthcare related projects will bring together my personal interest and professional skills. Equipped with Ross’ Healthcare Management Concentration, joining a healthcare-focused MAP will enable me to apply these academic lessons and tools, while the Healthcare Club will expose me to the industry through the insights of peers and alumni.
