Tell us how the Booth MBA will help you achieve your immediate and long-term post-MBA career goals?(minimum 250 words)

As a senior data scientist at XXX, I have created innovative analytics and AI solutions that will advance the field of data science. I led the development of carbon fiber yield models that were estimated to improve yield output by 10% per year and increase revenue by $30,000,000 per plant. I have also led the development of aircraft failure models that could save an airline over $2,000,000 a year. Using my engineering background, data science knowledge, and willingness to learn, I developed predictive models that anticipate complex engineering failures across aerospace and industrial applications. Even though I have accomplished a lot to start my career, I believe an MBA will enhance my technical skills while strengthening my leadership skills.

Today, I develop analytics solutions for external clients, but post-MBA I would like to develop and lead implementations of these solutions for companies such as ABC, XXX, or XXX. Booth provides the flexible curriculum and concentrations that align with my interests in analytics and leadership. I plan to pursue the business analytics concentration to enhance my foundation in data science. In the “Data Mining” and “Machine Learning” courses, I will learn additional predictive algorithms to add to my data scientist repertoire. In the “Artificial Intelligence” course, I will expand my knowledge and better understand the scenarios in which AI can be leveraged. I also plan to participate in the “Booth Hacks” to learn how to solve problems leveraging programming languages. The field of analytics is constantly evolving with new programming languages and tools. With the emergence of audio and visual recognition, analytics has evolved beyond tabular data.

In order to be a successful leader in analytics, I need to understand the quantitative aspect of the analytics solutions and how to strategically implement and manage them. Long term, my goal is to be Chief Analytics Officer and drive large-scale enterprise analytics projects transforming my company’s business. In order to reach my long-term goal, I will leverage Booth’s LEAD program to build on my communications skills. I also plan on taking another concentration in either strategic or operations management to learn how to implement and structure corporate strategies around analytics and to maximize my company’s resources. The “Technology Strategy” course in particular will help me learn about how to investment technology and how to extract business value from that investment.

Booth encourages students to push themselves while providing the support necessary for them to transform. Ultimately, Booth’s intellectual culture and challenging atmosphere excites me to reinvent myself for the next stage of my career.
