What career do you plan to pursue upon completing the MBA and why? How will the Johnson School help you achieve this goa?

Upon completing my MBA at the Johnson School, I plan to pursue a career in pharmaceutical marketing, ultimately securing a leadership position at a global pharmaceutical company. In order to achieve this position, my short-term career goal is to obtain a role in Brand Management with a company like Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson, both of which are known for their world-renowned brands and numerous marketing success stories. Here I will learn both the marketing and business fundamentals through classic Brand Management training programs on category-leading global brands. This kind of training will be the perfect complement to my advertising background.

My long-term career goal is to become the Chief Marketing Officer at a mid to top-tier pharmaceutical company where I will work to address issues of accessibility to and affordability of medicine. Through my leadership I will work with Research & Development teams to maintain a comprehensive pipeline, Manufacturing teams to cut costs, Marketing teams to promote accessibility to consumers, and Business Development to identify strategic partnerships.

The Johnson School’s performance learning curriculum will help me achieve this goal by giving me a strong background in business fundamentals, such as Managerial Finance, which I will need to manage the brand P&L, as well as industry-specific experiences through the Strategic Marketing Immersion, and particularly the PharmaSim game, that will help me succeed as a brand manager. I am most excited about the Johnson School’s Second Year concentrations; I plan to pursue the Leadership concentration for breadth and the Marketing Management concentration for depth as the combination will provide me with the educational base I need to become a leader in the marketing field. Additionally, the Johnson School’s flexible curriculum will aid me in achieving my career objective through elective courses such as Innovation in Pharma/Biotech: The Challenge of Change and Marketing for Health Care Mangers through the College of Human Ecology to understand how to overcome industry-specific challenges and be a successful leader. I am also excited about the Johnson School’s highly collaborative community. After visiting the school, speaking with current students, and attending a Marketing class, it was clearly a supportive and friendly environment. Lastly, the Johnson School’s strong alumni connections, which I’ve already personally experienced, will help me achieve my career goals. Due to all of these attributes, I strongly believe that the Johnson School represents the best fit for both my personal and career growth.
