What book, play, or movie would you recommend to the admissions committee? Why?

I would recommend Flatland, a 19th century novella that explains how our universe could be more than only three dimensions. I was surprised by how effortlessly the author was able to convey such an intricate notion. Even more remarkable was the author’s ability to weave into this book a complex, satirical story of Victorian society and the perceived disparities within it. I enjoyed that this book challenged me to think abstractly, beyond the scope of a typical fictional novel, and at the same time pick up on the allusions to Victorian social hierarchy incorporated within the story.
