What are you most passionate about and why? How will this passion positively impact Ross?
From a very young age I developed a love and passion for sports. I was involved in a variety of sports and found three commonalities which truly fueled my passion. First, I loved experiencing the camaraderie associated with being a part of a team. Second, I learned to love the “journey” as opposed to yearning for the destination, and third, the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the season is truly unmatched.
Today I am still active in organized sports, but I have also made an effort to replicate the aforementioned experiences in my work, hobbies, and relationships. Professionally, I push my team to set lofty goals, and then create an action plan to get there. I ensure that we take the time to work on our deficiencies, celebrate the wins, mourn the losses, but most importantly enjoy the journey. Whether it’s hiking a mountain, pushing myself in workouts, or getting through a difficult book, my favorite hobbies involve a grueling process where I can see the results and feel that same sense of accomplishment. Finally, I ensure that my goals align with those of my teammates so that we can experience the same type of camaraderie I felt through my sports teams.
I believe Ross’s leadership initiative and teamwork-based culture are the perfect complements for my passion for sports. Through working with my multidisciplinary action project teammates to create a cohesive unit who share a common goal or leading Habitat for Humanity projects, I will bring my passion to Ross in multiple venues. My passion for “loving the journey” will allow me to both give and get the most out of my two years at Ross because instead of only looking ahead to my career, I will take the time to make an impact each day.
