What is important for your classmates to know about you that is not on your resume
Nature is probably not the first thing that comes to mind when people think of Tel Aviv, Israel’s most populous metropolis. However, nature is never far away: both mountains and deserts are a short drive away. Growing up, I loved hiking at Ein Gedi and Wadi Kelt, two mountainous desert areas, and splashing in the springs at the Banias Waterfall, two hours away from the city. My love for the outdoors followed me to the United States: I have skied and hiked across the East Coast, and my recently acquired passion for rock climbing has taken me from New Mexico to Norway.
The dichotomy between urban Tel Aviv and suburban Virginia raised my interest in urban design. I have witnessed the benefits of living in a pedestrian-friendly city in Tel Aviv, and I will advocate for higher density housing and preach against car-centric planning to anyone who will listen.
Embodying two cultures also fostered my interest in history and food. I have a long list of museums I hope to visit, and I enjoyed the Babylonian collection at the Louvre on my recent trip to France. I also love replicating dishes from countries I’ve visited, and I’m currently learning to make socca, a chickpea-based bread I enjoyed in Provence.
