I would like to use this section to provide additional context for two areas of my application.

First, I’d like to share some background on a challenging semester I had during college in the fall of 2013. As indicated on my transcript, during this semester I withdrew from a course and received two C+ grades. I was pulled away from my studies that semester to take care of my father whose schizophrenia and seizure disorder had become particularly volatile. He is a widower and I am his only child, so his well-being is extremely important to me. He is now stable and receiving care in an assisted living facility. Despite my challenges that semester, I am confident that I can handle the academic rigors of the Tuck MBA program. I believe that my success during every other semester (cumulative GPA of 3.6 even when taking in to account this semester), my ability to obtain the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation and Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses, and my demonstrated skills in managing the quantitative elements of my 50-person department illustrate my ability to excel during my MBA.

Second, I’d like to explain my response to the application question that pertains to company sponsorship. In the application I answered “no” to the question about whether I will receive company sponsorship because there is a formal process for requesting sponsorship at my company and it does not occur until April. I am on the [company] corporate talent list, so it is possible that [the firm] will provide sponsorship, but I won’t know for certain until the spring.
