At Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School, we value our community and it is important for each person to contribute to its success. What difference will you make as a member of the MBA class at the Tepper School?
As a member of Tepper’s MBA class, I will bring a variety of skills and ideas to be actively involved in Tepper’s collaborative community. I believe I am a unique candidate because of my global perspective, my strong work ethic, and my steadfast core values.
My global perspective comes from my current role as a client service supervisor for Global form used to automate trade and wire activity. This experience brought a unique set of challenges, but I was able to help translate on client calls and bridge gaps when there was discourse amongst the group. My global perspective, coupled with my ability to unite varied viewpoints, will be an asset to the Tepper School MBA community.
My strong work ethic and deep determination to produce high quality work will also enhance the Tepper School MBA class. I am a very hard worker; evidenced by my career success in expanding roles while working at the bank, and due in large part to my commitment to continuously utilize and improve my Spanish language skills. I put extensive effort into all I set out to accomplish. Similarly, I can be seen as a leader on projects and initiatives, which will add to our class community. I do not shy away from challenges; if anything, I use my determination and grit to embrace any challenge. During the beginning of 2018, my team was short-staffed,but I took the initiative to take on a greater work load with increased responsibility. By embracing this challenge, I was promoted to my current managerial role. I believe that my experience managing people and building consensus on teams from my strong work ethic will be critical to my success at Tepper. I look forward to collaborating with my MBA class peers and the group work required of the program.
Lastly, I am a proud graduate of the College where I found deep connection with the Jesuit education and values, most importantly the challenge to live as “Men and women for others”. I live by this mantra and take it to heart everyday as I help my clients and team members. One of my long-term career goals is to act as an ethical business leader and to make a positive impact in the world, which is a small core value that I will bring to Tepper’s MBA community. I know that my core Jesuit values, coupled with my intellectual curiosity and deep consideration for others, will set me apart at the Tepper school.
