25 Random Things About Yourself
1. When I first moved to America I’d regularly order chili in restaurants assuming it was made with beans and chili peppers. As a vegetarian, I was horrified when I learned it usually contains beef!
2. I like to experiment with new foods. In Bali, I knowingly tried the Kopi Luwak coffee which is made from partially digested coffee beans defecated by a civet. Yup, you read that right.
3. When my husband and I traveled to Tulum, his return flight ticket was canceled by United. I persuaded them to reinstate the ticket over an arduous 9-hour long phone call.
4. Engaging with the Women’s Affinity Group, I champion initiatives that empower young girls to pursue STEM careers. Through our summer internship program, I’ve mentored five female engineers in successfully securing full-time offers at the firm.
5. I’m addicted to crime shows, documentaries and podcasts. Currently, I’m honing my detective skills by solving murder mysteries with a monthly ‘Hunt A Killer’ subscription.
6. I’ve interviewed older members of my family for anecdotes that can be shared in the future. My grandpa claimed he studied under streetlights because they couldn’t afford electricity at home.
7. My parents are doctors. The weight of their huge books and odd work hours drove me away from the profession as a child.
8. I indulge in horror movies - they’re even more fun when watching with my husband who will be cowering under a blanket.
9. I love tacos! Whenever I travel to a new city, taquerias are at the top of my list. My latest discovery is Taquiza Tacos in Miami.
10. I enjoy finding small ways to support those around me - I chauffeur my grandmother-in-law and her friends to the nearby Hindu temple on the weekends.
11. My closest friends compare me to a saleswoman. I’ve successfully convinced them to buy products that I really like - ranging from Macadamia milk to the Dyson Airwrap hair styler.
12. A good night’s rest is one of my top priorities. I’ve yet to find a reason to pull an all-nighter.
13. As an alternative to traveling this year, I get carried away admiring places to visit on Instagram. After too many nights scrolling in bed, I set a daily alert for a 30-minute limit.
14. Inspired by The Great British Baking Show, my husband and I created our own weekly cooking challenges. At Fuqua, I’m eager to participate in the Culinary Club’s Iron Chef competition!
15. I'm a huge fan of Bollywood music. As a child, I’d record songs from the radio using a cassette player and dance in my room. Today, the shower is my main stage for singing.
