Describe your most significant accomplishment
My most significant accomplishment is applying the lasting lessons of teamwork and discipline that I derived from fourteen years as a soccer athlete and captain. Throughout high school and college, I served as the captain of both my club and school soccer teams. Growing up, I spent nearly every weekend at tournaments, where I led my team to many championship titles across California.
Soccer taught me to thrive by connecting to others. I was raised as an only child in a single parent home, so naturally, I craved connections to others. Soccer taught me the value of power in numbers and how unity can yield successful results. Most importantly, this lesson has translated to my accomplishments in group projects at school and in the workplace. Accordingly, I am undertaking a masters thesis project with a XYZ. Working as a team has allowed us to not only delve into our subject deeper and gain a clearer understanding of the topic but to also bring together our ideas to produce a superior product.
Soccer also created lasting discipline that has been critical to my pursuits. I worked relentlessly to balance school and soccer, with over thirty-eight weekends each year spent across California at tournaments. I learned time management from a young age. This laser-sharp focus has been a success factor in recent leadership projects, such as my efforts to spearhead a health promotion day for 400 underserved families, and will also enable me to make my mark at Marshall.
