Tuck’s culture is unique in that it creates an unusually tight-knit group of well-rounded, diverse individuals who remain connected and accomplish great things. At Tuck, I would not only contribute to this rich culture through my global mindset, career and entrepreneurial experience, community involvement and social nature, but would also strive to have a lasting impact post-graduation.

My cultural background and my extensive international travels have influenced my worldview – that is, while I feel very much “American,” I always consider an “outsider’s” perspective and I empathize with being a stranger in a foreign country. At Tuck I will be able to relate to a wide range of peers, thus making me an effective team member and relationship builder between international and domestic students. Through Tuck’s International Club, I would contribute my experience, enrich my own international exposure, and hopefully learn a few new recipes.

Throughout my career, I have gained experience on both sides of debt and equity corporate finance transactions. Furthermore, my entrepreneurial ventures have given me firsthand experience in real estate investing, property management, and international impact investing. At Tuck, this diverse skill set would make me a versatile team member who would contribute to related case discussions, study groups and projects, and it would provide a foundation upon which to apply new and advanced concepts learned in courses such as Global Economics for Managers and Advanced Entrepreneurship. I would seek leadership roles in the Private Equity and Finance clubs, offering my experiences to help other students learn more about those industries.

At W&L, I served as an officer in my fraternity, and I was active in the Williams Investment Society (WIS) and an organization called Peer Counselors, both of which had selective application processes. My senior year, I was one of 20 seniors selected to the Sigma Society, which recognizes students’ devotion to W&L and campus leadership. While WIS was an excellent career-oriented experience, Peer Counselors was my proudest college activity; being selected to help fellow students cope with sensitive issues ranging from anxiety to sexual assault meant that other students considered me someone they could rely on during dark times. During my second year at Tuck, I would like to get involved in a similar organization or launch a peer counseling program to help first year students overcome issues related to the stressful transition to business school.

I have a strong desire to give back to W&L and remain an actively involved alumnus. I was selected to my class’s fifth year reunion committee, and I enthusiastically fundraise for W&L’s Annual Fund (my team recently set a new class-gift record). I serve on my fraternity’s housing corps, and have been actively involved in job recruiting and career mentoring. These examples, along with my position on the Kentucky Society of Washington’s Board of Directors, illustrate my commitment to giving back to communities I care about. At Tuck, I would aim to spread awareness of and interest in the school as a Tuck Ambassador, and I would further Tuck’s reputation of alumni loyalty by making myself very accessible to prospective/current students and alumni.

Personally, I am very social; from hosting a low country boil or fried turkey feast during college football season, to organizing hiking/camping excursions, I love initiating social gatherings and surrounding myself with friends. Just as I did around the Shenandoah Valley during undergrad, I would take full advantage of the Upper Valley through activities with Tuck’s Outdoor Club. In short, whether through a learning team, a career or social club, or a Tuck initiative, I would be an active member of the Tuck community, a contributing team member and someone who brings people together.
