"Change: It"
Change: It
Change: Seize it
By joining a rapidly changing team during the pandemic, I learned that change offers an opportunity to increase our impact and to rethink our typical approaches, when we are bold enough to seize it.
Having joined COMPANY following significant turnover, I seized the opportunity to redefine my role within my low-morale, low-tenure group; I took on challenges previously led by senior engineers, positioning myself to lead cross-functional teams, earn an early promotion, and magnify my impact on patients. As the industry undergoes pricing reform, the future belongs to those who seize the opportunity to reinvent the industry’s approach, paving the way for competitors. Stern’s healthcare specialization will supplement my technical knowledge with a strong business foundation in healthcare from which I can identify unique solutions. To prepare myself to implement these impactful ideas, I plan to build a strong healthcare network through SHA, where I hope to become VP of External Relations and host my industry connections to speak about critical trends.
The pandemic forced the industry to seize change by innovating new approaches. In response to supply chain shortages, I led international teams to bring in used materials from an external organization – an industry first – thereby guaranteeing patient supply while establishing new cost-saving methods for non-emergency situations. On a grander scale, I observed first-hand how the industry fundamentally changed its drug development strategies and investment approaches to reduce approvals from ten years to two. I’m excited to unlock the industry’s fresh approaches in a post-COVID landscape with Endless Frontier Labs, where I’ll support life- sciences start-ups, which are incorporating drastic advancements in technology to create cutting-edge solutions for patients.
My grandmother’s DISEASE diagnosis first inspired me to enter the pharmaceutical industry, applying my passion for STEM towards helping patients like her. Everyday I’ve waited for a cure while her condition deteriorates. By focusing my career around seizing change, I won’t be waiting idly for these treatments but instead working to deliver them to patients in a faster, more affordable way. Similarly, I will seize opportunities offered by Stern’s coursework, extracurriculars, and networking, laying the critical foundation to achieve my goals.
