Reapplicant Essay, How You Have Strengthened Your Application
Recognizing that my undergraduate GPA was a cause for concern in my last application, I wanted to provide the admissions committee with more evidence that I am up to the rigors of an elite MBA program, so I enrolled in UC Berkeley’s online Math for Management course. I earned an A in the class, while updating my skills in statistics, probability and financial decision-making. The class also helped to reinforce my commitment to pursue an MBA, through its introduction to topics like machine learning and big data.
Another weakness in my previous application was my lack of extracurricular involvement as an undergraduate. Now that the pandemic lockdowns are abating, to remedy my lack of social outreach during my undergraduate degree, I recently began teaching SUBJECT 1 and SUBJECT 2 to middle school students at NAME High School, an inner-city school in the greater CITY area. Every other Saturday I teach TOPICS to groups of up to 30 ninth and tenth-grade students.
Last October, I left my role at EMPLOYER 1 to join EMPLOYER 2 as a senior JOB TITLE. In my new role, I advise END USERS 1 and 2 on INDUSTRY, and lead the firm’s initiatives to upgrade our widget platform using Python and SQL. Building upon SKILLS A, B and C which I developed while at EMPLOYER 1, I am leading a team of two developers to bring similar but improved software to EMPLOYER 2. The firm knows I am committed to attending the SCHOOL MBA program next fall, and they fully support my aspiration to pursue advanced management education.
