What are the most meaningful ways you expect to engage and contribute to our community outside the classroom?
Attending the 2019 WLW and Weekday for Women events, I first experienced Fuqua’s culture of authentic engagement. I appreciated multiple students and alumni providing me with their business cards for further conversation. Student One, my Fuqua Friday buddy, and Student Two have been extremely generous with their time in answering my questions.
Throughout my engineering education and career, I’ve worked in teams that were male-dominated and had little opportunity to build a support network of female peers or role models. Therefore, my highest priority is to serve on the cabinet of AWIB as I share the commitment to promoting women in business. I believe women-driven empowerment plays a pivotal role in facilitating the success of future generations of female leaders. By spearheading the WLW, I aim to inspire, provide guidance and reduce anxieties for prospective women looking to pursue a career in business. Additionally, I hope to contribute by planning fun team-building activities such as an Escape Room challenge.
I am fortunate that my family and mentors have been supportive, empowering me to take on many challenges. I will pay-it-forward as a Fuqua2Duke mentor, sharing my experiences, encouraging students to gain field experience prior to graduation and assisting them in managing stress. As part of the mentee’s support system, I will share my network and help them explore potential career opportunities.
Finally, I aim to promote the ideals of Consequential Leadership as a COLE Fellow. I wholeheartedly agree that ethical leadership is essential in driving sustainable success personally and for the community. I will engage with first-year students in exercising these values within their C-LEAD team, encouraging collaboration, accountability and decision-making guided by a moral compass.
I’m excited to join Team Fuqua and lead student organizations in driving positive outcomes for my classmates and the larger community.
