What will your future look like after completing your MBA?

I sat up in my chair, looking our Vice President of XXX Production square in the eye, my mind racing with ideas. I was in a meeting being briefed on the status of our Hong Kong production centre and the numbers were bleak. Knowing I could make an impact, I spoke to my managers about training new staff and implementing a global best practices initiative. Less than two months later, I was on a plane to Hong Kong. This was the start of an experience that inspires my long-term goal of founding a business strategy consultancy specializing in corporate globalization. After spending six weeks training our team in Hong Kong, I realized that previous attempts at transforming this office had failed because management was applying a US model, not considering cultural differences and how they affect efficiency and productivity. I want to develop a business that advises companies on market expansion through understanding the cultural dynamics and business challenges of these new regions. My experiences in a fast-paced, project-based environment have honed my ability to think quickly and analytically, preparing me to handle challenges that come with every new project. Further, my management experience will provide a base for leading an organization. While these experiences provide a solid foundation, an LBS MBA is essential for sharpening my leadership skills, strengthening my analytical abilities and further developing my global perspective. Immediately following graduation, I will join a business strategy consultancy that focuses on corporate globalisation. One firm of interest is XXX, led by LBS alumnus XXX. By applying my LBS education in a practical setting and gaining more global exposure, this position will be an essential steppingstone to later launching my own firm. As an epicentre for various industries and cultural diversity, London is the ideal city to start this new chapter. As corporate globalization becomes an increasingly relevant topic for most companies, I want to be a leader in the industry and share my expertise through additional outlets, such as the London Business School Strategy Review. Being a thought-leader in the industry will be an important aspect of leading my own consulting firm and differentiating it within the corporate globalisation sector. LBS’ global-minded program is the perfect gateway to achieving my professional goals. This was reinforced for me during the Faculty Master Class I attended. Professor XXX demonstrated that LBS’ extraordinarily diverse student body would create a dynamic setting to learn about common business themes within the context of many industries and cultures beyond my own. Combined with programmes like the Global Business Experiences, these opportunities will allow me to understand the business and cultural landscape of different regions to better serve my future clients.
