How will other USC Marshall MBA Students benefit from your background, experience, leadership and teamwork skills?

I will contribute to the Marshall student culture by offering my values of broad exposure and leadership. Not only will these values be integral to my success as a student and businesswoman, but they will also allow me to forge relationships with my fellow Marshall peers.

The breadth of my past choices and experiences will provide integral insights for my fellow classmates, serving as a benchmark for my contribution. My desire for broad exposure drew me to Anthropology as a major in college, as it nurtured my fascination with other cultures, and to my college volunteer work, helping refugees from war-torn countries acclimate to life in America. I have been adept at navigating networks closer to me; I acquired coveted positions professionally, including summer internships during college. After, I pursued a consumer-minded position in marketing with the same connected spirit. Reaching for more meaningful bonds, I worked throughout my first year in graduate school to promote health prevention in underserved communities. This myriad of experiences will allow me to provide my classmates with alternate, macro-level perspectives, which will be a source for meaningful dialogue and connections with my fellow classmates.

I will contribute to the learning of my fellow students at USC Marshall through sharing my own perspective on leadership, shaped by my role as soccer team captain as well as by observing my mother in her role as President of XYZ. I learned the essence of leadership by serving as soccer captain of my school and club teams consistently from the ages of 7 to 21. My coaches counted on me to set the standard of sportsmanship for the whole team. I was an effective captain by practicing the most valuable leadership traits, such as taking initiative and building unity. These attributes have been ingrained in me through the example of my mother and grandmother. I was disheartened as a young child to watch the downturn of the healthcare business that was pioneered by my grandmother, who had a commanding, task-oriented management style. However, I was invigorated by my mom’s success when she stepped in to resurrect the business using a progressive, collaborative leadership style. Witnessing this leadership growing up influenced my resolve to be a leader with my own style. My relentless dedication to serve as an example for my teammates then—and professional colleagues in recent years—has been a true reflection of what I had learned from my mother’s charismatic leadership. This innate leadership drive will serve as springboard for my contribution to Marshall, where collaborative projects with my peers will assist us in reaching our full potential as future leaders.

As a Marshall student, I embrace my responsibility to engage with my fellow students through sharing my unique perspective on exposure and leadership. I believe my past experiences and knowledge have made me an excellent candidate for USC Marshall.
