Sample Booth-Specific Reapplicant Essay

Upon reflection, how has your perspective regarding your future, Chicago Booth, and/or getting an MBA changed since the time of your last application? (300 word limit) Since my previous application to Booth in MONTH YEAR, my perspective about my future and about my MBA studies at Chicago Booth have continued to evolve. Rather than return to ROLE 1 after my MBA studies, I have changed my short-term goals to pursue ROLE B post-MBA. In addition, I reassessed my prior application and identified areas that I could strengthen. I recognize that my 00 GMAT quant score is below Booth’s median, so to demonstrate that I can handle Booth’s rigorous academics I took the GRE this year, scoring 000 in Math and 000 in Verbal. I believe this quant score is a better reflection of my true analytical abilities.

After my promotion to Manager at COMPANY-A in Month Year, I was leading Southwestern North America widget strategy. Since then, I was promoted to lead a team of 12 analysts and I now lead widget strategy for all of North America, and manage investment and planning for YEAR and reporting directly to the Chief Widget Officer.

Outside of my core responsibilities at COMPANY-A, I launched a side project with one of our product designers, to create a prototype of a more effective dashboard. I presented this idea to the Chief Widget Officer, who offered me an in-company internship to design and launch the new COMPANY-A mobile application. After this experience, I decided to reapply to Booth, seeking a dual degree in Widget Tech alongside the Booth MBA.

To learn more about Booth, I attended Booth’s Tuscaloosa event in Month Year, where I met Booth alumni Mickey Mouse, who spoke about his transition to widget management at COMPANY-B after her MBA. Talking with Mickey and other Booth alumni from companies like COMPANY-C and COMPANY-D confirmed that the Booth MBA is the ideal next step in my career path.
