Immediately post-MBA, my goal is to work as a Strategy Consultant at Oliver Wyman within Healthcare.
In 5–10 years post-MBA, my goal is to work as a senior-level executive in strategy at a at Johnson & Johnson within Healthcare.
How has your experience prepared and encouraged you to pursue these goals? (350 words
maximum):
During my undergraduate internship with a neurologist in India in 2010, it was devastating to see Alzheimer’s patients who had to travel over four hours to visit a doctor. But five years later, when I worked with patients in rural Ohio, I was surprised to see similar disparities: a prevalence of untreated disease due to lack of reliable healthcare access. I organized fundraisers and set up free patient services, but without systemic change, such initiatives are merely a band-aid solution. Through a post-MBA career in Healthcare Strategy Consulting, I hope to help transform healthcare businesses and democratize the landscape of healthcare.
My background in neuroscience and my master’s in biomedical sciences have prepared me for the multidisciplinary, nebulous responsibilities in healthcare consulting. In my work with Ohio State, in a rural area with limited access to resources, I utilized a multidisciplinary approach involving technology, regulatory knowledge, empirical data, and community resources to improve clinical site operations as well as patient access. In 2020 at Company X, I stepped into roles with no prior experience and proceeded to become the subject matter expert and project lead, integrating a constant flow of new information.
Post-MBA, I will leverage my diverse experiences in healthcare to design comprehensive and innovative solutions for healthcare businesses. From founding the NGO “Help With Alzheimer’s” to organizing the annual Alzheimer’s Ball in Ohio to raise $82,000 for underserved rural patients, I have led diverse groups working towards a common purpose. Today at Company Y, I lead a global team and collaborate closely with diverse groups, from regulatory authorities to key opinion leaders, to serve a global patient population.
In the long term, I aspire to head strategy and innovation for a healthcare organization, driving change in the field of healthcare through integrated solutions. Building on my consulting experience, MBA education, and foundation in leadership and advocacy, I will manage the company’s strategic and exploratory initiatives, engage with stakeholders to enhance disruptive thinking, and lead multiple departments through collaborative efforts in innovation. My aspiration is to transform the health equity from an idea we work towards to a global standard.
