(2021) Why do you feel Columbia Business School is a good fit for you? (250 words)
Why do you feel Columbia Business School is a good fit for you?
There are more reasons than I can fit into 250 words, but the main reasons are as follows. First and foremost, after attending webinars for all the top business schools in the US, and speaking with alums, I have found CBS to be THE most business-minded business school, with a real emphasis on applying business concepts to the real world. As someone who is working in finance, everything that CBS does makes complete sense to me. For example, after speaking with alums Terry Tian and Matt Button, I learned that CBS invites finance professionals who work in the City to teach, so students can understand how to bring theory into practice.
Second, CBS has everything from CWiB to CSIMA, to two different entrepreneurship clubs! As someone who was super involved in extracurriculars in college, I can’t wait to explore my professional and personal interests when I join.
Moreover, I understand that the alum network is extremely willing to help each other, and my personality, being a “protector” to those around me, matches what I’ve seen of the interactions with alums. Being a J-termer, I would also rely on the CBS network to make my adjacent industry pivot.
I also miss NYC, and I miss my friends from undergrad who still live there. Last but not least, students at CBS are charismatic and fun, which are very important traits to succeed in the business world, and I feel that with my personality and experiences, I belong!
