What career do you plan to pursue upon completion of an MBA degree and why?

My career plan post-MBA is to join a healthcare consulting firm that advises many of the world’s leading healthcare companies. My work as a benefits consultant has exposed me to how the healthcare system operates, as well as how the existing system could be improved. I believe becoming a healthcare consultant will allow me to best improve the healthcare system through providing strategic guidance to top healthcare providers and companies, as I would help to impact millions of lives. In addition, consulting appeals to me because I have enjoyed the analytical and client relationship work in my current job. Working at a top healthcare consulting firm, will enable me to eventually become a senior consultant specializing in the provider segment, allowing me to directly contribute to the improvement of our healthcare system.

I am pursuing an MBA to enable my transition to healthcare consulting, and believe Johnson is the perfect fit on a number of levels. Johnson's strong academics will give me the fundamentals necessary to become a successful healthcare consultant. Also, Johnson's active student community will help me gain healthcare specific skills, and is a compelling reason of why I wish to attend the Johnson School.

Johnson's unique Performance Learning approach to education will be instrumental in preparation to become a healthcare consultant and Johnson's core curriculum will provide me with a solid understanding of core business subjects. More advanced classes, like Innovation in Pharma/Biotech; the Challenge of Change will further prepare me to specialize in healthcare consulting. Through the Managerial Finance immersion with Consulting focus, I will further develop my analytical and problem solving skills. Johnson's impressive faculty, such as Alan Biloski and Bruce Ganem, will also help me learn about the nuances of the healthcare industry.

Additionally, the Healthcare and Biotech club is a key resource for healthcare-focused students, and I will be able to contribute to and benefit from the club greatly. Through discussions with past-president Jason Dice '07, I know the club can beneficial to me by helping with interview preparation and career resources. Also, participating in the club's HBC Symposia will be an invaluable time to network with healthcare leaders and educate myself on the pressing issues in the healthcare world.

I plan to become a healthcare consultant so I may help the healthcare system improve the care and services it delivers. A Johnson MBA will help best prepare me for this career change through its Performance Learning approach to education, and collaborative student community.
