I. In the beginning: I was born into a uniquely American family of a Russian immigrant father and Peruvian mother, spending my early childhood in New Jersey, but moved to North Dakota at age nine.

III. A Road Less Traveled: I matriculated at MIT in August ’01 where over the next four years I was challenged by the rigors of education, while learning the value of honor and the importance of working as a group.

IV. A Quick Jaunt Across the Pond: I spent six adventurous months in New Zealand during my junior semester abroad. I traveled throughout the world, which helped further my international mindset through exposure to a multitude of cultures and people.

V. Entering the Workforce: Diploma in hand, I entered the business world through insurance underwriting performing financial analyses for health plans. My extroverted nature drove me to transition into sales, which honed my interpersonal skills.

VI. A Consultant's Life: While I enjoyed the thrill of working in sales, I desired a more analytical career to further sharpen my quantitative skills. I moved to Cambril in a consulting role where I managed multiple projects and sold new engagements.

VII. First Comes Love: On September 4, 2008, I married the love of my life and sixteen months later, we welcomed a baby boy into this world on a cool March day. Our family continued to grow through new additions, and be a constant source of strength and inspiration for me.

VIII. Ithaca, Sweet Ithaca: My time at the Johnson School of Business was the most formative two years of my life. I remain indebted to Johnson for supplying me with the education and development to follow my dream into healthcare consulting, along with a lifelong network of friends.

IX. Fixing the System: I became a healthcare consultant, after Cornell, and worked my way up to become the practice leader to the Provider segment. My proudest professional accomplishment was working with the Federal government to shape how Healthcare Reform impacted how millions of Americans receive care.

X. After All Was Said and Done: My wife and I fulfilled our dream of retiring to a farm in Maine. When not visiting friends and family, we enjoy traveling the world to try new and exotic food.

My Life Story- By Sonia Wells i. Toddling through the Big Apple Born and raised in New York City, I was exposed to many cultural events and a diverse array of people, sparking my desire to see the world.

ii. Dirt and water While in high school, I combined my passions for traveling and volunteering, spending the summer in Costa Rica in a rural village. I helped the town construct a desperately needed water tank. It was an eye-opening experience for a young urbanite and inspired me to always seek out or create volunteer opportunities.

iii. Michigan, U.S.A. to Brisbane, Australia I attended University of Michigan both its liberal arts education and to expand my comfort zone beyond NYC. I was involved the Campus Interview Team and spent a semester in Australia partaking in the culture and adventure by attending school, surfing, and traveling.

iv. “Mad” Woman Upon graduation I began my marketing career with James Mickey, garnering invaluable knowledge working on the company’s highest grossing account. I was also nominated for the company’s Human Futures Development program, a high honor that helped me hone both my leadership and communications skills along with the opportunity to work directly with the executive management team.

v. Impactful Ithaca I chose to attend the Johnson School for my MBA both for its collaborative community and its innovative curriculum. I was the healthcare expert for the Big Red Ventures club and the President of the Community Impact club to further pursue my interest in social entrepreneurship and volunteerism. Additionally, I was a tour guide for the admissions office where I enjoyed meeting new and interesting prospective students.

vi. J&J&me I became a classically trained brand manager at Johnson & Johnson on category-leading global brands. I also had the opportunity to work abroad, enhancing my global business perspective in addition to leading a historic product launch of a promising drug for cancer treatment.

vii. Changing the game as a CMO Drawing on my experiences at The Johnson School, traveling around the world, and working with Echoing Green, I became one of CNN’s Heroes of the Year for 2023 being celebrated for social entrepreneurship in the local community.

viii. Epilogue I am still pursuing my passions- volunteering, traveling, and living in New York City with my family.
