How will Wharton MBA help you achieve your professional objectives?
Personally and professionally, I’m passionate about media because it influences millions of lives every day. In the last few years, WILSON and media companies alike have struggled as audiences fragment to new screens, like tablets. However, as emerging technologies disrupt the media landscape, they also present an opportunity for these companies to reach and impact even bigger audiences. I aspire to capture this potential and leverage it to both entertain and influence society. My goal is to run the digital division of a media company, where I’ll integrate digital into all aspects of media to touch everyday lives. With my recent director promotion, I’ve built a solid financial and strategic foundation and reached a pivotal point in my career. To reach my goal, I need to hone my operational execution and personal leadership style. Through an immersion in the Wharton MBA program, I’ll gain the comprehensive knowledge, tangible experience and extensive network to transition into management. Upon graduation, I’ll pursue a line management role in a digital division of a media company and put learning into action.
Through Wharton’s rigorous, flexible curriculum and hands-on approach, I’ll establish knowledge across disciplines and secure a deep management foundation. In fixed core courses like Marketing and Operations Management, I’ll develop functional knowledge to address the unique challenges media companies face today. Meanwhile, I’d capitalize on the flexible core’s advanced finance classes to enhance my analytical abilities and apply them to a creative industry. Pursuing a general management major, I’ll build expertise in growing successful enterprises. From Wharton’s vast elective offering featuring distinguished professors, I’ll take Innovation, Change and Entrepreneurship with Professor Mark Milan. Collaborating with talented peers and leading innovators, I’ll discover new technologies, insights and perspectives to assume a media management role.
Beyond the classroom, Wharton’s experiential culture and active community fosters firsthand experience and lifelong relationships. In Wharton's active student community, I’d practice leadership in the Media & Entertainment Club. Through a venture to Mt. Kilimanjaro, I’ll augment my personal development and form lasting relationships. I’d also leverage Wharton’s connected alumni and relationships with leading corporations to build a robust network. Working with Joe Rich, Wharton 2006, I’ve already gained invaluable insight that informs my ambitions. Through Wharton’s MBA program, I’ll learn from distinguished professors, engage with diverse classmates, reflect on my personal vision and experience the world. I’ll be forever transformed and better equipped to lead people and organizations.
