25 Random Things About Yourself
1. My first celebrity encounter was when I was six and asked Scottie Pippen for his autograph at a supermarket in Chicago. My mom misremembered his name, so I approached him with “Hi, Mr. Bippen”.
2. I have volunteered with Make-A-Wish since I was in high school and hope to one day become a Wish Granter.
3. I snapped my glasses in half during a trip to Asia and had to tape them together with a Hello Kitty Band-Aid for our entire vacation.
4. As the only family member who isn’t afraid of heights, my most memorable travel experience is climbing Chitzen Itza, alone, in the pouring rain, while my family cheered me on.
5. I love learning through historical fiction. I once watched an 82 episode drama about a famous Chinese Empress.
6. The trophy I am most proud of is for participating in a swimming event for charity – I swam 100 Olympic laps.
7. One of my secret skills is being able to type super fast. My record is 128 words per minute.
8. Through Duke in New York, I got to see the original Hamilton cast perform before it became a worldwide phenomenon.
9. My biggest fear is getting picked as an audience volunteer. In Las Vegas, I was selected during a magic show to “cut off” the magician’s tongue. I still get queasy thinking about it.
10. If I could have dinner with any fictional or nonfictional character, it would be Hercules Poirot from the Agatha Christie novels.
11. I will always choose something colorful over black or white. I’ve been trying my whole life to convince my parents to replace their all white dishware.
12. When my company transitioned to an open-seating office model I loved being able to pick a different seat everyday.
13. Working with industrial clients, I’ve learned more about roller chains than I ever imagined. I’ve yet to decide if this knowledge makes me feel better or worse about roller coasters.
14. A few things I am terrified of are squat toilets and missing previews at the movies.
15. A few things I am passionate about are handwritten cards and sweet tea.
